A Look at Gender Stereotypes
This post is on a more personal (and festive!) note than usual because… Yesterday we were gifted the ultimate Valentines day gift: our darling baby girl was born!
I was blessed with a peaceful, straight forward birth and am currently reveling in the intoxicating bonding of newbornland.
In anticipation of becoming parents to a girl (after 2 boys) I’ve given gender-parenting some thought. Interesting how many remarks we heard about how pleased (relieved?) we must be to have a girl, and we are! Very! But not because of the reasons we heard, such as:
‘Girls are so much easier and calmer than boys.’
‘Finally you’ll have someone to dress up!’
‘Boys just can’t be friends to their mothers the way girls can.’
‘Girls are so much more helpful around the home.’
So, without further ado – and before our daughter needs her next feed – please see my three thoughts on raising strong girls in the video above.
Do you have thoughts on how to combat gender stereotypes? I’d love to hear them in the comments below!
Love so much this post!!!
