Thank you so much for this! I had this idea that when my daughter turned four, all of her difficult behavior from toddlerhood would suddenly disappear. There would no more tantrums, and she would become cooperative and calm in the face of disappointment. This, of course, has not been the case. And, I started questioning my parenting ability even more – is peaceful parenting working, are the times I find myself losing my temper, yelling, or showing anger ruining everything. BUT, if I look at how much better (rather than perfect) things are now, I can see the successes, which is immensely helpful. She does tantrum much less often and is cooperative more often. I will take those wins. Thank you for helping me re-frame things!
